Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage is facing a battle to keep his job, though he will be afforded more time. His position is under close scrutiny following a series of poor results, including a 5-0 defeat to Brighton on Sunday.
Sage has secured just two wins from his first seven Premier League matches in charge. The team has also conceded 17 goals, which is the highest in the league.
Despite the challenging start, some within Selhurst Park reportedly sympathise with Sage, citing injuries and the absence of key players Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr due to fitness and personal issues. Co-owner and chairman Steve Parish is known for not acting on impulse.
However, Sage is not yet out of the woods. Upcoming games against Besiktas and Newcastle are crucial, and further poor results could force Parish to make a decision. Some close to Palace believe Sage's tenure may end once a suitable replacement is found, especially after the club failed to appoint first-choice target Andoni Iraola after Oliver Glasner's departure.
