Matheus Cunha's late deflected shot secured a crucial point for Manchester United against Fulham, preventing a third successive defeat for Michael Carrick's side. The equaliser came after Lisandro Martínez's own goal had given Fulham the lead in a Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.
The draw follows a challenging week for United, who suffered a derby defeat to Manchester City last Sunday and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Brighton midweek. United had also lost their opening Premier League game against Hull.
Fulham, under manager Alvaro Arbeloa, had taken the lead through Martínez's darkly comic own goal. Despite United hitting the woodwork twice in the first half, they struggled to find a breakthrough until Cunha's late effort, which deflected off David Affengruber and spun into the net.
