Middlesex have ended a ten-year wait for silverware, triumphing over Leicestershire in a dramatic One-Day Cup final at Trent Bridge. The London side secured a 31-run victory, marking their first trophy since the 2016 County Championship and their first white-ball success since the 2008 T20 Blast.
Put in to bat, Middlesex recovered from a difficult start thanks to Ryan Higgins' magnificent century, an impressive 100 runs from 115 balls. Higgins, 31, shared a crucial 135-run sixth-wicket partnership with Harry Duke (55), helping Middlesex reach a total of 231 before being bowled out in the final over. Ian Holland was the pick of the Leicestershire bowlers with figures of 5-36.
In reply, Leicestershire also faced early setbacks, with Toby Roland-Jones taking 3-27 for Middlesex. New Zealand international Nick Kelly kept Leicestershire's hopes alive with a glorious century of his own, scoring 103 runs from 103 deliveries. However, his dismissal shortly after reaching his hundred proved to be a turning point, as Tom Helm and Naavya Sharma wrapped up the innings, with captain Ben Geddes taking the winning catch.
