Cyborg's PFL Title Not at Stake After Opponent Misses Weight by Seven Pounds

Cris Cyborg's PFL featherweight world title will not be contested in her fight against Ketlen Vieira in Tampa, after Vieira missed the 145lb weight limit by seven pounds.

  • Ketlen Vieira weighed in at 152lbs for the 145lb PFL featherweight world title fight.
  • The bout will proceed as a catchweight fight, with Cyborg's title not on the line.
  • Vieira cited a health issue, including severe kidney and stomach pain, as the reason for not continuing to cut weight.

Cris Cyborg's PFL featherweight world title will not be on the line in her fight against Ketlen Vieira in Tampa, Florida, today, 22 August 2026. Vieira, 34, missed the 145lb weight limit by a significant seven pounds, weighing in at 152lbs.

The bout, which was initially in danger of being cancelled, will now proceed as a catchweight fight. Cyborg, 41, who successfully made the championship weight, reacted on social media by stating, "We don't care. Porrada."

Vieira explained to MMA Fighting that a health issue prevented her from continuing to cut weight, citing severe pain in her kidneys and stomach. Her coach reportedly prioritised her health and would not let her continue losing weight. Vieira will forfeit a portion of her purse.

Cyborg had previously suggested this contest might be her final fight after a 21-year career that includes world titles in Strikeforce, Bellator, the UFC, and the PFL. She admitted to ESPN Brasil that she thought the fight would be scrapped after hearing her opponent would miss weight, but a catchweight agreement was reached.

Why this matters: The decision means Cris Cyborg's PFL featherweight world title will not be defended, altering the stakes of what she had suggested might be her retirement fight.
