Former England captain Lawrence Dallaglio's 2003 Rugby World Cup winner's medal has been sold for £54,000 at auction. The sale comes after the 54-year-old was declared bankrupt, leading him to put various career items up for sale.

Among the other memorabilia sold were a British and Irish Lions cap, which fetched £11,000, and an England cap, selling for £8,000. A 2003 Six Nations Championship winner's medal also went for £7,500.

The auction, held at Budd's in Northamptonshire, saw items sold raise a total of £100,500. However, some pieces from Dallaglio's collection, including his medals for four Premiership title wins with Wasps, remained unsold. His collection had an estimated value of £180,000.

Dallaglio, a key member of England's 2003 World Cup-winning squad, recently discussed his bankruptcy on The High Performance Podcast, stating it was a result of his divorce and financial problems.
