Dame Jenni Murray, former presenter of BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, died on 12 March, eight days after a car crash in north London. An inquest heard that she was dazzled by headlights before colliding with two stationary vehicles.
North London area coroner Tony Murphy ruled the cause of death as bronchopneumonia, resulting from rib and sternum fractures sustained in the collision. The crash, which occurred near Hampstead Heath around 19:45 GMT, led to multiple rib fractures, an upper sternum fracture, and a collapsed lung.
Dame Jenni was admitted to the Royal Free Hospital on 4 March. A consultant's statement noted she was unable to recall events after the collision but exited her vehicle independently. The Metropolitan Police investigated the incident but closed their inquiry without further action.
