Italy international Daniel Maldini has had his driving licence suspended after a car crash in Milan. He was found to be over the legal alcohol limit following the incident.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder, who plays for Cagliari, was involved in a collision in the early hours of Sunday. His Porsche Carrera 4 collided with another vehicle, resulting in minor injuries for Maldini and five other individuals.
Milan city police confirmed a road traffic accident involving the footballer. A breathalyser test administered at the scene resulted in his driving licence being confiscated due to a positive result. Reports indicate initial blood alcohol levels of 0.91 grams per litre and a second reading of 0.89 g/l, both exceeding Italy's legal limit of 0.5 g/l.
Maldini was taken to hospital for precautionary checks before being released. Cagliari stated that he underwent toxicological screening, with all tests returning negative results. He is expected to join the squad for training on Monday to prepare for upcoming fixtures.
