David Queensberry, the influential ceramics designer and 12th Marquess of Queensberry, has passed away at the age of 96. He was a professor of ceramics at the Royal College of Art in London from 1959 to 1983.
In 1966, Queensberry co-founded the design consultancy Queensberry Hunt with Martin Hunt. Their work included globally recognised tableware ranges such as the sculptural Concept range for Hornsea Pottery in 1976 and Trend for Rosenthal Thomas in 1983.
Queensberry Hunt's designs, including Cupola and Concave bone china, continue to be sold at John Lewis, and their porcelain is a staple at the North American chain Crate & Barrel. He was also involved in the Highland Stoneware project until his death.
