David Silva Returns to Football at 40, Joins Hong Kong Club Sha Tin

Former Manchester City midfielder David Silva has come out of retirement at the age of 40 to sign with Hong Kong Premier League club Sha Tin.

Former Manchester City midfielder David Silva has announced his return to professional football at the age of 40, joining Hong Kong Premier League club Sha Tin. Silva had retired in 2023 after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament tear during pre-season training with Real Sociedad.

During his illustrious career, Silva secured 11 major honours over 10 years with Manchester City, including four Premier League titles. He also achieved international success, winning the 2010 World Cup and two European Championships with Spain.

Sha Tin, currently eighth in their league after four matches, stated that Silva will arrive in Hong Kong soon to integrate with the squad and build match fitness before his debut. Silva expressed his excitement, saying, "I'm so excited to go to Hong Kong and enjoy the local culture, the food in Sha Tin and, of course, football in Hong Kong."
