Global streaming platform Dazn has secured the UK rights to broadcast Australia's Test series against Bangladesh this month. This landmark deal marks Dazn's first venture into international cricket, a significant development for the platform which primarily focuses on football and combat sports.
The two Test matches are scheduled to take place in Darwin and Mackay in Australia’s Top End. Cricket Australia reportedly sought a long-term deal for its UK rights but chose to sell the Bangladesh series to Dazn as a one-off agreement, with negotiations continuing for its other properties.
Dazn's previous cricket coverage included a joint deal with Sky Sports for the 2023 Indian Premier League in the UK. Last year, the company acquired Australian satellite channel Foxtel, which holds Cricket Australia’s domestic rights until 2031. The UK broadcast of the Bangladesh series is expected to use coverage provided by host broadcaster Fox Sports.
Australia has named an experienced squad for the Bangladesh series, with captain Pat Cummins returning for the first time since last December. The series begins next Thursday.
