Destro, a startup that emerged from stealth on Tuesday, has secured an $8 million seed funding round. The company focuses on an AI intelligence layer designed to enable robots and human workers to collaborate effectively in logistics environments.
Manthan Pawar, Destro's founder, stated that the company's approach differs from traditional robotics firms by not building robots, but rather by providing a system that directs existing robotic and human operations. This strategy has led to pilot programs with Yusen Logistics, a South Korean shipping giant.
The Destro system, which uses Miva Robotics' cart-moving robots operated by Destro’s Vision operating system, is currently being expanded. An initial pilot at a Yusen facility in the Pacific Northwest is growing to a full deployment of 26 robots, and another pilot with 17 robots is launching at a Yusen facility in Southern California.
