LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy has contributed to a charity cover of The Waterboys' 'The Whole Of The Moon', released by DFA Records. The track was recorded in memory of JD Twitch, real name Keith McIvor, who was one half of the Scottish DJ duo Optimo.
McIvor passed away in September 2025 at the age of 57, after being diagnosed with an "untreatable" brain tumour in July 2025. The digital version of the seven-minute cover, shared under the name The Watergirls, is now available on Bandcamp, with a limited-edition vinyl pressing due on October 2.
The project was initiated by Teamy and features artists including Fantastic Twins, Bob Weston, CC:DISCO!, and Mhairi McClymont. Proceeds from the release will go to Beatson Cancer Charity and the Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence.
