DJ Shadow, real name Joshua Paul Davis, is re-releasing his classic debut album 'Endtroducing' on 18 September to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The record, originally released in September 1996, was a significant release in instrumental hip-hop.
Recorded at his home studio, The Glue Factory in San Francisco, and Dan The Automator’s studio, 'Endtroducing' blended influences from rock, psychedelia, and jazz. It became the first sample-only album and has been cited as an inspiration by artists such as Radiohead and Deftones.
To mark the milestone, DJ Shadow will also embark on an anniversary tour, starting in San Diego next month. The tour includes various US dates before concluding with a one-off show at London's Barbican on 18 December.
