Tottenham are reportedly prepared to sanction the departure of Djed Spence, with Inter in discussions over a move for the England defender. The transfer is anticipated to be worth approximately £25.6m (€30m).
Spence, who featured in four World Cup games for England, including the semi-final against Argentina, has seen his position in the Spurs squad shift following the arrival of Andy Robertson from Liverpool. Despite signing a new four-year contract last season, he is understood to be keen on joining the Italian champions. Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro are expected to be Roberto De Zerbi’s preferred full-backs for the upcoming season.
Negotiations are currently underway regarding the transfer fee for the 26-year-old. Inter are seeking a replacement for Denzel Dumfries, who moved to Real Madrid this summer. While personal terms are not believed to be a hurdle, an agreement is likely to see Inter pay slightly more than the £20m fee Spurs paid Middlesbrough for Spence in 2022.
In other Spurs news, the club confirmed on Monday that Mickey van de Ven has signed a new five-year contract. The Netherlands defender stated, “It’s clear the direction the club wants to go in and I want to be a part of it. I’m excited about what’s to come.” Tottenham have spent nearly £240m on new players this summer, including a club-record £92.5m for Sandro Tonali.
