The Dolphins rugby league team are just one victory away from their first NRL Grand Final, a notable achievement in only their fourth season. English centre Herbie Farnworth has been central to their journey, with a crucial try against the Roosters three weeks ago helping to secure their preliminary final place.
The team will face the Roosters again in the preliminary final. Farnworth's parents, Richard and Joanne, from Barrowford, Lancashire, will be watching the match from the UK. Joanne Farnworth stated they had booked a trip to the Maldives in January and "never even really gave it a thought that they’d do so well."
The Dolphins' chief executive, Terry Reader, noted that the team's plan and strategy are "coming together." The club's success has been built on a foundation including inaugural coach Wayne Bennett, an orderly transition to assistant Kristian Woolf, and established forwards like Felise Kaufusi, Jesse Bromwich, and Kenny Bromwich.
The team also backed halfback Isaiya Katoa and boasts a backline featuring inaugural fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Farnworth, and Selwyn Cobbo. The Dolphins have achieved nearly 50 wins in 96 NRL matches, setting a high bar for new clubs.
