Donald Trump shares misleading video of King Charles on social media

US President Donald Trump has shared an edited video on social media that appears to show King Charles shrugging and walking away from a man who fainted.

  • The video shared by Trump on Truth Social is edited from a longer clip.
  • The original footage shows King Charles, then Prince of Wales, reaching out to the man and remaining nearby as he received medical attention.
  • Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the video.

US President Donald Trump has posted a misleading video on his Truth Social platform that appears to show King Charles shrugging and walking away from a man who fainted during a royal visit. The footage, which has been edited, is part of a video shared by Trump that also features other world leaders.

The clip of the King was taken from a longer video recorded in July 2020, when he was visiting an Asda supermarket distribution centre in Bristol as Prince of Wales. The full footage, not used by Trump, shows Charles reaching out to the man as he fell and staying close by while he received medical attention.

The three-minute video, posted on the US Labor Day holiday, also includes clips of French President Emmanuel Macron, former President Joe Biden, and former President Barack Obama. These are followed by a series of clips depicting Trump honouring US troops and comforting families of fallen soldiers.

Buckingham Palace stated it would not comment on the matter. The White House has not responded to a request for comment.
