The Doncaster St Leger Festival continues today with its second day of racing, and racing correspondent Jonathan Doidge has offered four selections for the Town Moor card. Among his picks are Final Objective in the Carlsberg Danish Pilsner Flying Childers Stakes and Caballo De Mar in the Betfred Howard Wright Doncaster Cup Stakes.
Final Objective, a gelding from Hamad Al Jehani's stable, is tipped as a 1pt each-way bet at 13/2 with Unibet in the 14:25 race. The horse previously broke its maiden at Thirsk and achieved a second-place finish in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York. Doidge notes the horse's strong 6f form and potential for the shorter trip, especially with expected softer conditions.
For the 15:00 Betfred Howard Wright Doncaster Cup Stakes, Caballo De Mar is a 2pts win selection at 9/4 with William Hill. This horse previously won the Prix du Cadran and finished third in last year's race. The return to 2m2f on a flatter track and a switch to blinkers are seen as potential positives for Caballo De Mar, who has proven Group 1 company experience and performs well on soft ground.
Other selections include Nochebuena, a 1pt each-way tip at 5/1 with Betway for the British Stallion Studs EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap at 15:35, and Launch Sequence, a 1pt each-way pick at 7/1 with bet365 for the Tanbry Construction Nursery Handicap at 16:45.
