Dyson's first dedicated hot brush, the Airsmooth, launched in the UK on 8 September, after being unveiled at an annual showcase in Berlin. The tool dries and smooths hair from wet in one step and is one of the most affordable hair tools the brand has released, according to Condé Nast Traveller.
The Airsmooth runs on universal voltage (100–240V), meaning it will work in Tokyo, New York or Marrakech without a voltage converter. A plug adapter is still needed for the socket shape. It weighs 0.6kg and has a two-metre cable.
It features dual bristle technology, with flexible bristles that diffuse airflow from their base and anti-snag bristles designed to glide through hair with less breakage. Intelligent heat control measures air temperature more than 20 times a second. There are three heat settings (85°C, 100°C and 113°C) and three speeds.
The brush head is teardrop-shaped and gets to the roots for lift, then works down to the ends for smoothing, bends or a flick. In testing, it dried hair from wet in 10 minutes, compared with a usual 40 minutes plus. The reviewer noted it is a smoothing tool, so a diffuser is still needed to define curls rather than stretch them.
