Dyson, known for its home appliances, has entered the oral hygiene market with a new toothbrush priced at £420. The device features a 100k pixel macro lens camera designed to provide users with 'live cleaning footage' from inside their mouth, viewable on the MyDyson app.
The company states the camera functions as a 'high-quality endoscope', allowing users to 'see what their dentist sees' and receive feedback on their cleaning. The toothbrush also incorporates an 'anti-gravity (mouthwash) tank' and is designed to clean, floss, and spray mouthwash.
James Dyson, the company's founder and chief engineer, launched the product on Tuesday at an event in Paris. He explained that the toothbrush combines a camera, machine learning, fluid dynamics, advanced brushing technologies, connectivity, and Wi-Fi to offer a new approach to oral health.
The toothbrush claims to remove 'up to 72% more plaque than market leading electric toothbrushes'. Dyson has also introduced a non-foaming toothpaste and mouth rinse, each costing £8.50, to complement what it describes as a 'complete dental system'.
