East London's Waltz bar debuts at 32nd in World's 50 Best Bars list

Waltz, a Japanese-inspired bar in East London, has been ranked 32nd in the global 2026 edition of The 50 Best Bar awards in Milan.

Waltz, a Japanese-inspired bar situated on Scrutton Street in East London, has made its debut on the global 2026 edition of The 50 Best Bar awards. The establishment secured the 32nd position at the ceremony held in Milan.

Opened in April 2025, Waltz is the first new bar to enter the prestigious list since Scarfes at the Rosewood London hotel was recognised in 2023. The announcement was met with excitement from the London bar scene, including Waltz's founder, Gento Torigata, and his team.

The bar's interior, inspired by Japanese listening bars, features warm wood, blue shades, and jazz music. Its menu includes an 'Evergreen' section with Gento's signature drinks, such as a Matcha Old Fashioned, and an 'In Season' section that changes frequently, following Japan's traditional calendar of 72 micro-seasons.

Waltz operates on a walk-in only basis, serving drinks crafted by bartenders in navy waistcoats and white shirts.

What this means for you: If you wish to visit Waltz, you will need to arrive early or late to secure a seat, as it is walk-in only.
