An individual has shared their discovery that kiwifruit skin can be eaten, noting that it provides fibre and other nutrients. This personal account suggests that the practice could simplify consumption by removing the need for peeling.
The individual, who is approaching their 60th birthday, described overcoming initial prejudice against the hairy skin. While they initially sliced the fruit, they now consume it whole, similar to an apple. However, they also reported that their mother had a negative reaction when trying to eat the skin.
The individual also noted that increasing their fibre intake through eating kiwifruit skin reportedly helped with a recent bout of constipation. They suggested that the kiwifruit trade association could promote the ease of eating the fruit whole.
