Ebor Festival Concludes Today in York with Sell-Out Crowd

The Ebor Festival at York Racecourse reaches its climax today, Saturday 22 August 2026, with the Ebor Handicap as the centrepiece of a sell-out card.

  • Today marks the fourth and final day of York's festival meeting.
  • The Ebor Handicap, a race for punters since 1843, is the main event.
  • Trainer Willie Mullins has two contenders, Love Me Tender and Mr Hollywood, aiming for a third Ebor win in four years.

The Ebor Festival concludes today, Saturday 22 August 2026, at York's Knavesmire, drawing a sell-out crowd for its final day. The Ebor Handicap, a race with a rich history dating back to 1843, is the highlight of the card.

Known for attracting top-class stayers, the Ebor has seen its standard further improve in recent years due to a significant boost in prize money. Past winners include Trawlerman in 2022, who later secured the Gold Cup at Ascot, and Ethical Diamond last year, who went on to achieve success in the Breeders’ Cup Turf.

Trainer Willie Mullins, who trained Ethical Diamond, is aiming for his third Ebor win in four years. He fields two contenders this afternoon: Love Me Tender and Mr Hollywood. The Ebor is scheduled to start at 3.35, with the Group One City Of York Stakes at 3.00 as the main supporting race.
