Ed Sheeran's scheduled concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, have been cancelled due to severe weather warnings. Messina Touring, Sheeran's tour promoter, announced the decision on Friday, citing safety concerns for fans and staff across Boston and New England.
The cancellation adds to a period of controversy for Sheeran's Loop tour. Weeks prior, the tour faced backlash following the removal of opening act Macklemore, reportedly due to pressure from stadium owner Robert Kraft.
Macklemore's removal came after he made pro-Palestinian comments at MetLife Stadium. Following this, several supporting acts, including Beoga, Aaron Rowe, Finneas, and Lukas Graham, withdrew from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore.
Macklemore has since announced his own "Free Palestine" tour, with dates scheduled next month in Dublin, Paris, and London, with all proceeds benefiting organizations supporting Palestine.
