Hampshire paceman Eddie Jack, whose middle name honours 2005 Ashes-winning captain Michael Vaughan, has earned his first senior England call-up. The 21-year-old is set to join the squad for next month's T20 series against Australia.

Jack was born during the final match of the 2005 Ashes series, which saw England end an 18-year wait for a Test series victory over Australia. His parents marked the occasion by giving him the middle name Vaughan, a tradition in his family, as his elder brother's middle name is Robinson from the 2003 Rugby World Cup and his younger brother's is Hamilton from Lewis Hamilton's 2007 rookie year.

The young bowler has also spent time under the guidance of former all-rounder Andrew Flintoff with England Lions, who praised Jack. Despite having played only seven T20s, Jack is one of four specialist quicks in the touring squad and seems poised for his international debut Down Under.

Jack, who has received an England development deal for the second year in a row, shared advice he received from England Test captain Joe Root in 2022. Root advised him to focus on continually upskilling rather than setting specific goals, a philosophy Jack has applied to his own development.
