Edward Bluemel is set to take on the role of Agatha Christie's iconic detective Hercule Poirot in a new six-part BBC television series. The 33-year-old English actor will star in 'Hercule', a drama described as an "intimate study" of the Belgian detective's initial cases in London.
The series, currently filming in Liverpool, will focus on three of Christie's early stories, introducing the young detective to future allies and a nemesis. Promotional images show Bluemel, known for roles in 'Sex Education' and 'Killing Eve', in a classic brown tweed suit jacket, white shirt, contrasting tie, and a three-point folded pocket handkerchief, holding a Homburg hat.
The cast also includes Henry Ashton, Jack Gleeson, Tamsin Greig, James Nesbitt, James D’Arcy, Calvin Demba, Guy Remmers, and Mawaan Rizwan. Written by Benji Walters, the series is produced by Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, and BritBox in North America, with a planned release in 2027.
