At least 11 people have been killed in a mass shooting at a house in the KwaMakhutha township, near the South African city of Durban. Gunmen stormed the residential building late on Tuesday and opened fire on 14 people.
Police reported that 10 individuals died at the scene, and four were taken to hospital, where one later succumbed to their injuries. Among those killed is believed to be a pregnant woman.
Information suggests that 13 men and one woman were reportedly having a party when three men arrived and opened fire. Police said some victims were under watch in connection with illegal activities, but further details could not be divulged to protect ongoing investigations.
The motive for the shooting has not been confirmed, but police have not ruled out a "feud between rival groupings". A local TV reporter at the scene stated the gunmen set fire to a vehicle belonging to one of the victims before fleeing.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. South Africa has one of the world's highest murder rates, with police data indicating more than 60 deaths a day.
