Ellie McCartney secures bronze at Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

Northern Ireland's Ellie McCartney has won a bronze medal in the women's 200m breaststroke final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Ellie McCartney of Northern Ireland has claimed a bronze medal in the women's 200m breaststroke final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The 21-year-old finished behind Abgharad Evans and Kaylene Corbett of South Africa.

McCartney, who had the sixth-fastest time in the semi-finals, completed the race in 2:24.73. This time secured her third place, just 0.16 seconds ahead of Australia's Ella Ramsay.

This bronze medal marks McCartney's first senior international medal. It is also the third swimming medal for Northern Ireland at the Games, following Bethany Firth's bronze and Barry McClements' silver.
