Enric Mas, the 31-year-old Spanish cyclist, has finally clinched his first Vuelta a España title, bringing the three-week Grand Tour to a close on Sunday. This victory marks his first Grand Tour triumph, following three previous runner-up finishes in the Vuelta.
Mas, representing Movistar, held off four-time champion Primoz Roglic, finishing 2 minutes 15 seconds ahead in the general classification. Felix Gall secured third place, a further half-minute behind.
The Spaniard took the red jersey after Tadej Pogacar abandoned the race due to a crash on stage eight. Mas effectively sealed his win by limiting losses in the individual time trial and expanding his lead in the final mountain stage.
Tobias Johannessen of Uno-X Mobility won the 112km final stage in Granada, prevailing in a sprint finish. Mas crossed the finish line arm-in-arm with his six Movistar teammates, celebrating the team's first Vuelta win since 2016.
