Josh Kerr has capped a remarkable year by winning the 1500m at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest. The Scottish runner crossed the finish line in three minutes, 29.35 seconds, holding off Australia's Cameron Myers on the home straight.
This triumph adds to Kerr's impressive 2026, which saw him set a new mile world record in July, alongside securing world indoor 3000m and Commonwealth mile titles. His victory in Budapest also came with a prize of 150,000 US Dollars, equivalent to £110,828.
The race had been anticipated as a clash between Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen, though Ingebrigtsen, who won the 5000m on Friday, opted to miss the 1500m, citing it as one race too many after his return from an Achilles issue.
