Europe has reclaimed the Solheim Cup, defeating the United States 15-13 in a thrilling contest at Bernardus Golf Club in the Netherlands. The European team's big names shone in Sunday's singles matches, turning the tide after starting the day level at 8-8.
Charley Hull, who had previously secured half a point, led Europe out in the singles and delivered a crucial 3&2 win over Megan Khang. Fellow Englishwoman Lottie Woad also contributed significantly, achieving a 2&1 victory against Auston Kim, sparking celebrations on the 17th green.
Carlota Ciganda sealed the victory for Europe, ensuring the team reached the required 14½ points. Her win in the penultimate match against Jennifer Kupcho was particularly fitting, coming less than 24 hours after Kupcho had stolen a point from her in the fourballs.
Europe's quartet of rookies also earned praise for their performances. Spain's Julia Lopez Ramirez and France's Nastasia Nadaud both secured 3&2 wins, demonstrating their suitability for the big stage. Despite a strong comeback from Alison Lee for the US, it was not enough to prevent Europe from securing their first win on European soil since 2015.
