Birmingham is set to host the 2026 European Athletics Championships next week, with continental titles and potential world records on the line. The event, held at Alexander Stadium from August 10-16, marks the first time the Championships have come to the UK.
A strong field of athletes is expected, including Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson and reigning European 100m champion Dina Asher-Smith. Ten reigning world champions, such as pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, are also scheduled to compete. Norway's Olympic 5,000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen is expected to return from injury, having not competed in 2026.
Coverage of the European Athletics Championships will be broadcast live on the BBC and BBC iPlayer. The action kicks off on August 10 on BBC Two at 10:30 am.
