Dozens of European royals and heads of state, including the Prince of Wales and three Nordic kings, attended the funeral of King Harald V in Oslo on Wednesday. Thousands of people lined the route of the funeral procession from the royal palace to Oslo Cathedral.
King Harald V, who was 89, died nearly two weeks ago. Following the ceremony and burial, the Norwegian royal family, including the new King Haakon, Queen Mette-Marit, and Queen Sonja, greeted crowds from the palace balcony.
A minute's silence was observed across Norway. King Harald V, who reigned for 35 years, was described as a popular and modernising figure. He was laid to rest at Akershus Fortress alongside other members of the royal family.
