Manchester United Women's new head coach, Eva Olid, has faced a challenging start to her tenure. She had only three weeks to implement her playing philosophy before the season opener, following her appointment on August 5.
The team's transfer activity also concluded late, with Monica Jusu Bah arriving on August 28 and Rebeca Bernal signing on September 2. This late business, combined with the managerial change, has reportedly left the team playing catch-up with other Women's Super League (WSL) clubs.
Olid has stated she has received assurances that United will be active in the winter transfer window, telling her first press conference: “We have some plans in January about signing players that I really need for my style of play and game model.” However, the team faces a demanding schedule of 12 WSL games and cup matches before January, including a home fixture against Chelsea on Sunday and an away trip to Arsenal next Saturday.
