Everton agree deal to re-sign Jack Grealish on season-long loan

Everton have agreed a deal for Jack Grealish to return to the club on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The 30-year-old is set for a medical ahead of the transfer deadline.

  • Jack Grealish is set for a medical at Everton, with his move expected to be completed before Tuesday's 23:00 BST transfer deadline.
  • Grealish previously spent a large part of last season on loan at Everton, scoring twice and providing six assists in 20 appearances.
  • Everton's chief executive Angus Kinnear stated the club had "remained in contact" with Grealish, whose preference was to return to Everton.

Everton have struck a deal to bring Jack Grealish back to Goodison Park on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The 30-year-old winger is scheduled for a medical, with the move anticipated to be finalised before Tuesday's 23:00 BST transfer deadline.

Grealish previously featured for the Toffees last season under a similar loan arrangement, netting two goals and assisting six in 20 appearances before a foot injury ended his campaign in January. Despite links to other clubs, including his boyhood team Aston Villa, Grealish's preference was a return to Everton.

Everton's chief executive, Angus Kinnear, confirmed to BBC Radio Merseyside that the club had "remained in contact" with Grealish. This move comes as Everton look to strengthen their attacking options, with winger Iliman Ndiaye, 26, expected to complete a £65m switch to Manchester City.

The Merseyside club also appears to be nearing a £40m deal for Monaco and USA forward Folarin Balogun. However, their efforts to re-sign Brazil striker Richarlison from Tottenham have reportedly stalled over personal terms.

Grealish, who joined City from Villa for £100m in August 2021, has made two substitute appearances for Enzo Maresca's side this season, featuring in their Community Shield defeat by Arsenal and a Premier League win against Bournemouth.

Why this matters: The return of Jack Grealish could significantly bolster Everton's attacking prowess as they look to strengthen their squad before the transfer deadline.
