Everton and Crystal Palace are currently engaged in discussions regarding a potential swap deal. The proposed exchange would see Toffees winger Dwight McNeil move to the Eagles, with Wales international Brennan Johnson heading in the opposite direction.
Both clubs are reportedly hoping to finalise the deal this week. McNeil, 26, was close to a move to Selhurst Park in February 2026, when Palace had agreed a loan-to-buy arrangement that would have become a permanent £20m transfer this summer. However, that transfer did not materialise due to incomplete paperwork, despite McNeil having passed a medical.
Johnson, 25, joined Palace in January for £35m. He played 45 times for Wales and scored the winning goal for Tottenham in their 1-0 Europa League final victory over Manchester United in May 2025. Despite helping Palace reach the Conference League final, which they won 1-0 against Rayo Vallecano, Johnson failed to score in 26 appearances for the club across all competitions, including 13 Premier League starts.
McNeil, who joined Everton from Burnley for £20m in July 2022, has scored 15 goals in 128 games for the club. Everton finished 13th in the Premier League last season, two places above Palace, who will compete in the Europa League in 2026-27 following their Conference League success.
