Everton have called off a proposed deal to sell midfielder Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest. The decision follows a backlash from the club's supporters.
Nottingham Forest had submitted a bid of £40m, which also included a potential sell-on clause, for the England Under-19 international. Armstrong is considered a promising talent from Finch Farm.
Everton supporters expressed their anger, singing Armstrong's name during Saturday's draw at Bournemouth and reportedly stating there would be a "riot" if he was sold. The Toffees board has since unanimously decided that the 19-year-old will stay at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Armstrong has made 24 appearances for Everton, playing 87 minutes against Bournemouth before being replaced. Manager David Moyes commented after the game that he understood the fans' frustration.
