Everton Football Club has been put up for sale by its owners, The Friedkin Group, just two years after their initial purchase of the Premier League team. The Friedkin Group, who bought the Merseyside club in 2024 for £400m, stated they are “exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the potential sale of a controlling interest”.
The owners are reportedly looking to capitalise on a recent valuation boost for Premier League clubs. Financial firm Moelis & Company has been appointed to oversee the process, which could result in a new minority or majority investment in the club, currently seventh in the Premier League table.
A statement from The Friedkin Group noted that when they became custodians, the club faced significant financial uncertainty. They prioritised stability, investment, and support, including helping to complete the Hill Dickinson Stadium. They added that they will only consider interest from parties they believe will be suitable stewards to advance the club.
