A beauty product tester has conducted extensive evaluations of concealers, assessing 17 different formulations for coverage, creasing, and shade range. The testing process involved applying concealers to red Sharpie spots on the forearm to judge coverage, followed by a full-day wear test to monitor performance on spots and dark circles.
Among the top recommendations, the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer was identified as the best budget option. It provides a smooth, matt finish suitable for brightening under-eye areas and offers buildable coverage for spots, particularly on oily and combination skin. The latest version of this affordable product includes a beauty blender, though the tester noted it was somewhat firm for under-eye blending.
For addressing dark circles, the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Radiant concealer was praised for its combination of comfortable medium coverage and active skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and vitamin C. The tester found it buildable, easy to blend, and effective at not settling into fine lines, leaving a natural-looking glow. However, its higher price and potential for vitamin C to cause breakouts on very sensitive, acne-prone skin were noted.
The By Terry hyaluronic serum concealer was recommended for individuals with dry or mature skin, particularly for use under the eyes. This formulation incorporates eight types of hyaluronic acid to hydrate different layers of the skin, preventing dryness and patchiness throughout the day. The tester confirmed its effectiveness in minimising blemishes and brightening the skin without drying it out.
