Fairphone, a Dutch company known for its sustainable and repair-friendly phones, announced on Tuesday that its latest smartphone, the Fairphone 6+, is now available in the US. The device is priced at $649.
This marks the first time US consumers can directly purchase Fairphone's unmodified devices. The Fairphone 6+ will support T-Mobile and AT&T networks at launch.
The Fairphone 6+ is a mid-range Android phone, featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, 12GB of RAM, and a 4,415 mAh battery with 30W fast-charging. It has a 6.31 LTPO OLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
A key selling point for the Fairphone 6+ is its 12 replaceable parts, which include the battery, cameras, USB-C port, and display. These components can be swapped out using a single screwdriver. Fairphone CEO Raymond van Eck stated, “We’re delivering a device built from the ground up to be opened, repaired, and kept alive for many years.” The company provides five years of warranty and software support until 2033.
