A family returning to their Stourbridge home, which was damaged in a recent fire, discovered that jewellery and other items had been stolen, West Midlands Police said.
The burglary on Racecourse Lane is believed to have taken place in the last week, according to police. The homeowner had been evacuated on 13 August when a fire broke out at a nearby golf course, destroying 19 houses.
Detectives said that upon returning home over the weekend, the family found items including jewellery, watches, and a coin collection missing. West Midlands Police are examining CCTV footage and conducting house-to-house inquiries, with uniformed and plainclothes patrols in the area. The force has urged anyone who sees the stolen items being sold online to come forward.
