Far-right activist Daniel Thomas arrested after Channel dinghy incident

Daniel Thomas, a 37-year-old far-right activist, has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage with intent to endanger life, two days after allegedly filming himself slashing a dinghy in the Channel.

Far-right activist Daniel Thomas has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage with intent to endanger life. The arrest by Hampshire and Isle of Wight constabulary took place on Wednesday night, two days after he reportedly filmed himself slashing a dinghy in the Channel with a rescuer present.

The 37-year-old, described as being of no fixed abode, is suspected of offences including destroying ships or fixed platforms or endangering their safety under section 11 of the Aviation and Maritime Security Act 1990. Police also stated Thomas is suspected of "criminal damage, criminal damage with intent to endanger life, and conduct endangering ships, structures or individuals under section 58 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995".

A video uploaded to Thomas's YouTube platform reportedly shows his arrest, during which an officer stated he had been "involved in criminal damage that has recklessly endangered someone’s life." Thomas, who uses the name Danny Tommo, reportedly responded: "I understand. I knew this was coming."
