A farmer based in Dry Drayton, on the outskirts of Cambridge, has gained thousands of online followers after turning to social media to inspire his three young daughters.
James Peck, 50, who farms about 12,500 acres across four counties, said he was concerned by the negativity his older daughters, aged 13 and 12, encountered when expressing interest in farming. He stated, "I wanted to be able to show them that actually there's a great side to farming."
Peck began producing two videos a week two years ago, and his channels now accumulate 7.5 to eight million views monthly. He credits a videographer from an Anglia Ruskin University course for encouraging him to film farm life, with an initial video reaching 12,000 views.
His arable farming business has diversified into areas including haulage, grain storage, lettings, house building, and media. Peck noted that the extreme heat can necessitate early morning harvesting, such as picking beans at 06:00 BST, to prevent half of the potential crop yield from being spoiled.
