Feather Robotics, a humanoid startup established in 2025, is developing a modular robotic system designed for software developers. The company provides both hardware and a software toolkit, enabling developers to adapt the robots for various real-world applications.
The system allows for hardware customisation, such as adjusting arm lengths, and can run models from leading robotics AI providers including Generalist, Skild, or Physical Intelligence. Feather has started selling its robots, achieving over $1 million in revenue, with examples of their use including cooking in Japanese restaurants and cleaning science labs.
Co-founder Hoa Mai, who previously sold a humanoid startup to 1X, teamed up with former Tesla engineer Parsa Bakhtiari to create Feather. The startup received $7.6 million in pre-seed funding, led by Gradient Ventures.
The robot is priced at $30,000, which Feather states is about half the cost of Unitree's H2 Edu. Darian Shirazi, General Partner at Gradient, suggests Feather is the only U.S. startup developing a modular humanoid platform, positioning it uniquely in the market given restrictions on foreign-made models.
