Federal agents searched the Washington DC home of Representative Ilhan Omar on Monday morning, 12 October 2026, as part of a criminal fraud investigation. Reports from the Associated Press and Fox News, citing a Department of Justice statement, confirmed the search.

A video posted by Fox showed individuals appearing to be law enforcement in Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) jackets at what Fox News identified as Omar’s residence. A Department of Justice spokesperson told Fox News Digital that HSI executed a judicially authorised search warrant in the Washington, DC area, as part of an ongoing federal investigation.

The specific nature of the warrant remains unclear. Fox News, citing unnamed sources, reported that agents were examining immigration paperwork completed by the congresswoman’s father when she was a child. Ms Omar has consistently denied accusations of fraudulently obtaining citizenship.
