Square Enix has confirmed a 'Distant Worlds' orchestral tour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise. The original game was released in 1987, and the series has since expanded with 15 mainline sequels and numerous spin-offs.
The new concert series, titled 'Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy Eternal / 悠久', will feature music from composers such as Nobuo Uematsu and Yoko Shimomura. HD videos created by Square Enix will accompany the music, showcasing four decades of Final Fantasy and the evolution of video game technology.
The tour is set to begin in Japan in March 2027, with dates confirmed for Tokyo and Osaka. It will then travel to North America, with performances in cities including Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. A UK date is scheduled for 25 September 2027 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Maestro Arnie Roth will direct a symphony orchestra, choir, and soloists for the concert series. Some concert tickets will go on sale next week, starting 6 October, while other ticket details are yet to be confirmed.
