Rote, a remote Indonesian island off West Timor, has welcomed its first luxury resort, Nihi Rote & Hospitality Academy. The new property is a sister to Nihi Sumba and is situated on a coastline known for its surfing waves.

The resort is currently taking shape, with some thatched, low-rise villas already open, each featuring a swimming pool. When it fully launches in October, Nihi Rote will offer 21 villas, three pools, a spa, a pump track, and a golf simulator. There are also plans to build and sell multimillion-dollar residences alongside the property.

Rote has historically been a destination for Australian surfers, drawn by its long, clean waves. The island is described as having tropical weather, white sand beaches, and dense coconut palms.
