England's Matt Fitzpatrick has clinched his fourth title of the season, securing a three-shot victory at the French Open in Paris. The 32-year-old carded a one-under-par 70 at Le Golf National, fending off Spain's Angel Hidalgo.
Fitzpatrick, who had a five-shot lead heading into the final day, saw his advantage cut to two after a run of 12 successive pars. However, crucial birdies on the 13th and 15th holes extended his lead, making a bogey at the last inconsequential to his 11th European Tour title.
Reflecting on his win, Fitzpatrick stated, "Delighted to get it over the line, it was definitely a battle today." He added, "I didn't have my best stuff for the first 12 holes and then managed to find some of my best stuff."
Earlier this year, Fitzpatrick also claimed the Valspar Championship and RBC Heritage titles on the PGA Tour, alongside the Zurich Classic team event with his younger brother Alex.
