Five people have been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred at a protest outside the Board of Deputies of British Jews' office in north London, the Metropolitan Police has stated. The force confirmed the individuals were detained during a "spontaneous protest" at the UK's largest Jewish community group's Camden headquarters.
According to the Met, slogans "calling for intifada" were chanted by the group, who remain in custody. The Board of Deputies issued a statement following the arrests, saying the group "would not be threatened or intimidated" and thanked police for their "swift" response.
The arrests occurred as other pro-Palestinian student protests took place elsewhere in London, three years after the 7 October attack on Israel by Hamas.
