Former boxing world champion Joe Cordina has denied assaulting a man outside a petrol station, a court heard on Tuesday. Cordina, 34, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court and pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault by beating.
The charges are connected to an incident in the Cardiff suburb of Pentwyn in February. Cordina was charged alongside Jamie O'Brien, 32, who also faces an assault charge in relation to the same incident. The court previously heard the alleged offences were "against each other".
District Judge Charlotte Murphy granted Cordina unconditional bail. His trial has been scheduled for 13 October this year. O'Brien's case has been adjourned until 26 August.
