A former South Wales Police officer, Rikki Hall, has appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court charged with raping and strangling a woman while on duty. Mr Hall, 33, from Swansea, faces two counts of rape and one of intentional strangulation of a woman, causing her to have difficulty breathing in February 2024.
He is also charged with two counts of misconduct in public office, including one allegation of engaging in sexual activity with a member of the public met during welfare and safeguarding checks. Mr Hall is also accused of arranging appointments with sex workers while on duty.
A sixth charge relates to the alleged possession of Pava spray, similar to pepper spray, without permission. No formal pleas were entered during the hearing.
The charges follow an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), and Mr Hall reportedly resigned from the force during their investigation. District Judge Lynne Matthews sent the case to the Crown Court due to the seriousness of the alleged offences.
